[DUG] How hard is it to get Delphi developers?

We've advertised twice in the last year for experienced Delphi devs
based in Christchurch. Our positions would have been advertised on Seek
and RealContacts, and maybe elsewhere too.

My recollection is that we had maybe around 10-15 applicants each time.
A number of those applicants would have been overseas applicants
basically fishing for jobs in NZ, and whose skills didn't realistically
meet the requirements of the job as advertised, and weren't considered
further.

>From the CVs, each time there were probably only 2-3 that appeared worth
pursuing further.

So, for us, not a large pool from which to draw.

HTH,

C.

I am working though succession planning at the moment. In the event of
my departure or untimely demise, Catalyst would need a replacement
Delphi dev.

How hard are these to find? We could place the hypothetical somebody in
Auckland, Napier or Wellington so location would probably not be a
problem.

An alternative is getting a trainee developer ahead of time, but I am
not sure how many Delphi trainees are available either.
