But Trevor, you DO have Delphi for OSX....even for Linux, FreeBSD,
Nintendo....and a number of other OS's, its called Lazarus !
Admittedly, I find it a little qwercky at times, and the files it generates
are even bigger than Dephi ones, but there are documents around that show
you why they are bigger, and how thats a good thing :-)
And if you want to develop OSX tools, theres always good old Java you can
use....eww.... :-)

Richard,
I'm glad that you are lucky enough to own a Mac Book and I hope that you
enjoy using it.
But I must challenge your statement that Apple is all about detail and
style.
Sure, Apple apps can look nicer than Microsoft apps, but Apple apps work
in a very restricted domain.
I love my iPod touch and my apple TV, but neither of them would work as
well as they do if my Windows box didn't make it possible to re-encode
nearly anything into a format supported by the apple devices.
I find it annoying that there are all sorts of hoops that I have to jump
through before I can get content that I have purchased legally onto the
Apple devices.
Sony is even worse.
Microsoft has an enormous advantage in being much more open than Apple.
I can't believe that I just wrote that, but it is true.
The thing that I don't understand is why Microsoft has squandered their
advantage by being crap.
Apple TV works way better than MS Media extender. Apple put a hard disk
into their box whereas Microsoft (with their extenders) rely on the network.
I reckon that the MS approach will be better in the long run because it is
more open, but Apple (by working with devices and networks that are
available today) have the opportunity to provide a reasonable user
experience now, and take advantage of tech advances when they happen.
As a Delphi programmer, I find myself pretty much stuck with what MS has
to offer, and to tell the truth I don't find that particularly limiting.
It would be nice if MS had done a better job with their Media Center
stuff. I like a lot of things about what they have done, but they haven't
managed to capture the simplicity and ease of use that Apple has. MS Media
Center is easily as polished as anything that Apple has produced, but just
doesn't quite work as well.
I haven't tried building Delphi projects in a VM hosted by OSX. I usually
work within a MS OS, typically Vista, and everything is dandy for me.
If OSX had a tool like Delphi, I reckon that all bets would be off, OSX
and Apple would win hands down, but there is no Delphi for OSX.
Heck, even running iTunes on Win32 you can see how it could be better as a
native Win32 Delphi app. Sometimes I can't believe how slow it is to
respond to something as simple as a mouse click. If my Delphi apps were as
sluggish as that, I don't know what I would say (but I probably couldn't
repeat it here).
Have you really looked at what iTunes offers when you right click on
something? It is usually garbage, and nowhere near as relevant as what you
might get with a well-written Delphi app.

Being the owner of a MacBook, and mostly running on OS X (and using VMWare
for Windows when I need it and finding that it runs nice and quickly), I
would say that the difference between Apple and Microsoft is attention to
detail. Apple is all about detail and style - and OS X is just simply nicer
to use than Windows (Vista included). *Really* nice ot use.

Agreed. Apple is actually worse than MS. Apple gets praise for doing
things that MS would get anti trusts for. Its a matter of size and
marketing.
I personally think Apples current strength is marketing not Software /
hardware.
