[DUG] Delphi 2006 snippet

It must surely be one of the following things:

a) everyone is super busy working
b) everyone is already a guru and knows the answers to everything
c) not everyone has D2005 to rant and rave about (even though I get more
crashes in d2005 than ever before, my productivity has increased heaps over
any other IDE)
d) people have co-workers to bounce ideas off
e) not everyone knows of the existance of this list and therefore doesn't
read or post to it
f) people have moved on to .NET and are using C# (although I also subscribe
to the C# list for NZ).
g) people use the newsgroups to ask questions

Why I am on this list considering I'm Australian. Well I worked for an NZ
company a while back and they subscribed. I liked the conversations on this
list better than the macho ego inspired conversations on the ADUG list
(which I'm a member of - I encourage all to join ADUG actually). It costs
like $60 a year for the first year (and reduces after that) and the
discounts you get on certain tools makes it very cost effective. One such
deal is 33% off FinalBuilder (which is like a $100USD saving).

I know what you are hinting at Leigh but Delphi sales are pretty strong at
the moment. (Although I can't speak for NZ as I don't know any NZ sales
reps).

cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Do you know why this list is so quite?

Didn't New Zealand role back Software Assurance to 20% like Australia, US
and the UK have done?

BTW, I know what Software Assurance is. Just looks like Kyley was having a
bad day because given the post on SA and the outrageous rant from the post
afterwards (I'm still trying to get up off the floor after that gem -
especially "The brain is an excellent tool for all the other stuff." - Quote
of the year that one)

Good to see some traffic on the list though :-)

Software assurance is probably not geared towards single developers that use
the PRO version, then again - you can't please everyone.

Software assurance is 30% of the product price. Software upgrades are much
more expensive.

IMHO. Surely using software assurance is simply a way of either 1/
Indicating the product will not live up to expectations 2/ Doubling the
price, but making it seem reasonable.

If only the leaky home issue had something like Builders Assurance .

We could sell a house for 150,000 and for an extra 80,000 your builders
assurance will qualify you for a dry, sound home.. hmmmmm the possibilities
of escaping good quality promises are endless.
