[DUG] Conversion training

While I agree that switching Delphi to C# (or VB) is simple on the surface,
there are some significant differences in the libraries and the approach to
some issues is fundamentally different to get an optimal result. Hence my
colleagues wish to hit the ground running with the best roadmap he can.

I would agree. Don't do VB.net, move to C#. We do Delphi and C# and we
basically learnt C# on the job writing code for a specific project making
use of the plenty of good stuff on the net about how to do "stuff" in C#.
The transition from Delphi to C# is quite straight forward if not similar
(funnily enough). Once we learnt what we thought was enough we attended a
C# course to see what we did wrong :-)

While we all agree with you that C# would be the way to go IF you have to
go .Net, the powers that be (in Denmark) have decreed that VB is the be all
and end all and they can get heaps of cheap Indian labour to cut code in it
:-(

If you have to move to .Net, why not do it properly and move to C#???
You really can't seriously talk about "future" development and VB.Net in
the same sentence without someone choking on their lunch.

	Hi All
I've been asked by a colleague for a recommendation for a training
organisation (or trainer) to lead a team on the conversion from Delphi to
.Net in the Auckland area. While the team is screaming at the change, the
organisation has decreed that future development will be in (groan) VB.Net
Most of the organisations advertising .Net training are offering courses
for beginning developers while what is needed is cross training for
experienced Delphi guys.
Anyone have any recommendations (other than find another job)?
