[DUG] [Off Topic]Warranty expired

Whether it was covered under any warranty at 12-18 months wasn't my point.
Only that the sooner something goes wrong the more reasonable it is to
expect it to have lasted longer, and the older something is the less
reasonable it becomes. Whether that period of time is less than some
essentially arbitrary number aggregated over a vastly diverse range of
products isn't particularly relevant to making your case.

It's the "reasonable" test in the specific that matters.

i.e. yes, sometimes an Extended Warranty is a waste of money (most of the
time I'd say) but sometimes it gives you a cast iron, guaranteed remedy
where otherwise the effort of making a case under Consumer Guarantees is
likely to be more bother than it's worth.

Step 1: Approach Dell with your case, and see what they say.

I was only ever trying to temper any excitement at the prospect that you
might have some sort of "guarantee" under the slightly misleadingly named
Consumer Guarantees Act. Yes it consists of a list of guarantees, but
these are not *warranties*.

But FYI - Dell currently have 30% off their current 30" model, so you could
replace it for just $1,600. 3 year service plan included. ;)

Coincidentally, today is the last day for that offer tho according to their
web site.
