[DUG] Is this true? Embarcadero laid off 7 ppl in Scotts Valley yesterday, approx 1/3 of #Delphi team. RTL, VCL, IDE devs.

More importantly, Nick Hodges hasn't been at Embarcadero for some time now,
so quite what relevance there is in mentioning his resume or the size of the
team he managed when he was there I simply cannot fathom. And even if the
team size of 14 referred to his team at Embarcadero, who's to say that the
Delphi team hadn't increased in size since he left, possibly significantly
so ?
Also, "Delphi Hater" neglected to share the follow up exchange between Danny
Thorpe and John Kaster. JK speculated that out-sourcing/off-shoring might
be partly responsible and Danny confirmed unequivocally that this was so.
"Yes, offshoring is a factor in this one."
It would be an unusual company indeed that is entirely unaffected by the
global economic situation, and Delphi team members being replaced in one
expensive location by cheaper alternative resources in another is quite
different from "layoffs", imho. Which isn't to say that it is not a
potential tragedy for those affected. But at the same time, Nick Hodges in
his *current* role, is HIRING, and recently mentioned that he was fighting
over potential recruits with other companies also hiring at "Delphi! Live".
"Trying to recruit here at Delphi Live. Am not the only one. ;-)"
Funny - Delphi Hater didn't mention those rather relevant, and related,
facts. :)
