1. Still maintaining Delphi code?
Yes, Large code base with multiple application
2. Started a new Delphi project in the last year?
Yes, some internal tools.
3. Started a new project in another language in the last year (what was
the language)?
Yes, C#, a WPF and WCF application.
4. What other languages are you using learning?
Ruby on rails for some hobby project.
I think there will be work for Delphi developers, mainly on legacy
projects though. I think there will just be less and less openings for
such jobs. I do see a trend that some places are starting new projects
mainly in c# and when suitable redeveloping the Delphi parts that need
major updates or rework straight into c#.

cobol programmer in seek website. If cobol programmer face this
situation, what about Delphi programmer?

I think there is still plenty of work around for Delphi developers - all
that Delphi code out there isn't just going to go away and will need to
be maintained. However, the question that should be asked is how many
people are starting new projects in Delphi (as opposed to C# / Java /
Ruby etc).
It's my understanding that specialized skills (Delphi Programming)
usually demand higher rewards as opposed to commodity programming (C# or
Java), but I guess it's mostly going to come down to supply and demand.
All the same - it's probably worth learning another language.
I haven't started any kind of new project for awhile, and have been just
enhancing our existing products. I've just started learning Ruby on
Rails (although haven't gotten very far as yet), which I hope to start
something with this year.

I am both maintaining and starting new projects in Delphi, and wont be
learning a new language anytime soon. My Hobbies are so busy I have no
time
for playing with other tools. Besides which, by doing my own software
I'm
not forced into needing to use another languages. Delphi is still
excellent
(although I cant compare against the newer offerings from MS)
I have a huge investment in time and tools developed for Delphi and if I
was
going to migrate I'd need a migration plan for those tools too.
As far as getting work in Delphi. I have not even looked for 6 years....
no
idea about the climate.

Comparing cobol and Delphi developers is a little unfair. I work with
about 30 cobol developers and the only thing they are good for is
making fun of them (lol)!!!
Delphi skills are more transferable to other languages.
1. Yes

3. Yes (C# and Objective-C)
4. C# and Objective-C
I had a look at Ruby and Rails last year when I was going to rewrite
my website in it. Got side tracked with more important things.
