Hi,
I have a D7 Enterprise license and consider to upgrade after all the
discussions ..... :)
I pay it personally (it may be rare?). However, my work did not update
their license since D6 and I like to keep myself updated.
At the moment, I am considering upgrade to one of the following:
- D2010 Professional (US$399)
- D2010 Enterprise (US$1299)
- RAD2010 Professional (US$649)
- RAD2010 Enterprise (US$1799)
Here are my questions:
Q1 - Professional or Enterprise
My main development is database applications and I did not use DBExpress (I
used ADO) in the past. However, I still need to connect to various DB
servers (i.e. Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Firebird, etc.) in the future. Will
there be any major problem if I choose Professional version over Enterprise.
Q2 - Delphi or RAD
I may need to use Prism (mainly for .net) in the future. Just wonder if it
is better to get D2010 Enterprise and get Prism from promotion (buy one get
one free). Or I simply get RAD2010 Pro (cheaper), but without DBExpress
connectivity to server (of course, without some other features as well but I
don't use them anyway).
Q3 - The NZ price from Developers Inc. web page seems a bit higher when
converted (possibly old exchange rate?). Should I buy from US web site or
should I contact Developer Inc. to get the updated price? What are the
differences?
Thanks a lot!
Rodney ..... :)
