[DUG] Translations

I noticed that one of the apps. also works with ReportBuilder which we use a
for reporting.
I think this is going to be a bit of a task.
We didnt think we woudl be going outside the english language market, but
things change :-)
I guess the argument some would make is "you should be using ResourceStrings
anyway" and they would be right, however...nothing like being a bit lazy now
and then and hardcoding your txt ;-)

Hi Jeremy,
 
I had to translate a small app last year into Dutch and German and just
created some ini files one for each language, with name/value pairs of words
and phrases in them. The main app ini specifies which language to use at
runtime. For this app we were mainly only asked to translate the data and
the reports, not so much the UI. It didn't take long at all to do this way
for a small app.

Hi All.
I Think this has been a subject a few times before, but unfortunitly I didnt
really retain anything about it because it didnt apply at the
time.....hehehe...and of course now it does :-)
 
I have had a requst to translate my application from English to German, then
to French maybe.
I downloaded the trial of Sisulizer and Multilizer with the, as it now turns
out, misunderstanding that they did the translation, when infact they only
appear to give you a list of the strings in your app and a column for you to
put the translations into or export the strings into a file that you send
off somewhere.
I thought to myself, if thats all, then why dont I just use resource strings
and Googlaes translation tool?
The specifics of grammer etc. from the translation will be done by someone
anyway, so thats not an issue.
 
I am keen to know what others do in this situation.
Also, does anyone use any online translation companies that you send your
words too and they do the translations?
