Hey Todd,
This is good stuff, and I have taken the liberty of passing this onto
some of the product team (bcc'd), please keep it coming.
Also, one of the things we did was to make VCL for PHP truly open
source, I really strongly urge you and others like you who have great
ideas, to make a contribution directly to the product, here is your
chance to have a direct and immediate impact to the product.
Regards Tim.

I have had a quite an extensive look through the VCL4PHP code and,
although I
like the concept, I can't say I'm that impressed with the
implementation.

There are a number of silly assumptions.
The first that springs to mind is the idea that a web page should only
contain
"one" form. What a ridiculous constraint!

Also there is a lot of duplicated code and tight coupling between the
classes.
Not to mention the fact that every control is database aware. Yuck.

The ajax stuff requires every component in the form to be completely
regenerated and then all the html from the controls that haven't changed
is
discarded. How slow and inefficient. I would have thought at least an
observer pattern could have been introduced here.

Todd.
