Ditto. Using D7, not likely to move till get 64bit compilation. dotNET,
whats that? :-)
A hundred years ago, I bought D2 client-server edition. (or was it D1?)
What we got (and this seems to apply to current releases), with Delphi plus
a large bunch of 3rd party software for which Borland didn't provide
support. Next version came out and lo, what we had invested in previous
version was dropped in next CS version, to be replaced with a different
bunch of 3rd party software. On top of that, the upgrade price was around
80% of repurchase price - "value for all the new features". And to finally
nail it, the DB driver that we purchased the thing for anyway was dropped.
There was basically no protection of user investment at all. At this point,
I stopped being interested in anything above pro. Borland still seems to
churn the 3rd party stuff everytime. It seems to make more sense to
purchase the 3rd party stuff you actually like and use, get the support you
need from the maker, and pay a whole lot less as well.
