Hi All

It's not an issue I've come up with personally in my career, though it should have been.

I have been a sole developer on a number of projects and have never had client accessible source code in those situations, so would have left them in a hell of a hole of a if the bus had arrived at the right time.

I'm now (mainly) retired but would be happy to step into the breach to keep legacy Delphi running productively.

I suggest that we, "DUG", set up a register of competent developers who can maintain systems if the primary source is cut off and define some "Escrow" holder as the source repository of record. I know that the number of Delphi devotees is shrinking, but there are still a number of us who can still make sense of others code and keep it running.

If anyone is interested I would be willing to set up a website on my domain listing available Delphi resources and possibly to hold code in escrow. These days I have little else to do.

$0.02

Stephen Bertram

---- Original Message ----
From: "Gary T. One way to deal with this is with a "code buddy". There's a bunch of others on the DUG List who would no doubt be interested in a 2 way deal, to provide a backup.

There's a bit of work both ways, but it means you both benefit from having another experienced developer able to provide "off site" backups, and experience to pick up the reins should any of the nasty scenarios pan out.

Much better than escrow as the deal comes with expertise, not a CD / DVD with code and no experience to deal with it.
