Apparently with Windows 8 MS changed the Microsoft XPS Document
Writer. This change doesn't allow QuickBook versions older than
their 2013 version to "print/email/save" documents as pdfs. On some
computers using the Microsoft XPS Document Writer that came with
Windows 7 works with the older versions. Thankfully this is working
for my 2012 version of QuickBooks.
Why Intuit chose this method I have no idea. Intuit has its own PDF
converter that is installed with QuickBooks.
I have no idea if this has anything to do with your issue. Just
thought I'd let you know.
Windows 8.1 is a decided improvement to Windows 8 – start
menu gets some of the way back to the good functionality
of the Windows 7 start menu which they had just about
perfect. Some things in Windows 8.1 are an improvement –
the instant search actually finds the item you are looking
for as the default usually. Some things are just
strangely broken – I cannot associate some programs with
extensions (it looks like only installed programs can be
associated), there is no place to manage wireless networks
except at the command line, and try finding the off
switch. And the way the charm bar keeps popping out when
I move the mouse anytime to the left. Oh and its actually
Windows 6.3.
