<DIV>Another specialised technical query:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Trying a technical experiment to see if a specific Interbase Database can
be used using Firebird instead of Interbase. The Interbase database
is Interbase 2009 – I am presuming the recommended procedure is to get a backup
file Database.GBK (made from Interbase) and restore it into the installed
version of Firebird using the Firebird GBAK tool.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This more or less works using Firebird Windows 2.5, although the GBAK
hiccups on one table where the tablename is 28 characters long. I have
read that Firebird is OK with 31 character tablenames, or 27 for
safety. I have been trying the ONE_AT_A_TIME flag to hopefully get
all the tables other than the long name one and then hopefully rename it to a
longer name, which apparently can be done.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Anyone have any suggestions or can confirm if I am on the best
track. I am assuming that the GBK files are compatible between
later versions of Interbase and Firebird – is this true?</DIV>
