All.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>Is anyone aware if
importing a type library for a COM/DCOM object would act different to using
CreateObject ?</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>We are interfacing
to, or rather trying to, a 3rd party app. that uses DCOM. I have the docs for
how to connect etc, and it even had a VB or C++ example of how to connect to it
etc. I EVEN have a compiled C++ app that came part of the
info.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>I got my app. all
working fine by importing the Type Lib., WELL THOUGHT I did until I went on site
and my app ran, but nothing happend as expected, but then ran his other
precompiled app and it worked fine !</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>Now, here is the
interesting bit. This precompiled app wont run under XP SP2 (throws an
error) where my one will, although nothing still happens. An yes before you
ask, I have changed the security for Component Services and DCOM settings etc.
to allow DCOM to run under SP2 etc.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial
size=2></FONT></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=921035319-03072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>So, hence he
question, does using an imported type lib act differently than using
CreatObject? One would assume no, but hell, you never can tell
!</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
