Also agree. The worst virus I ever experienced was Free AVG and all its other equally bad colleagues

I just use Windows essentials.

Agreed. If you are not the sort to go randomly browsing, and are careful with emails, Windows Defender or Security Essentials are fine and don't nag too much.

I have only had a virus in the last ten years when looking for infections on a sacrificial machine.

Some infections bypass all anti-virus programs, especially if someone runs a program or script from an email, and if the user allows it. The best defense is being careful and alert.

I just use Microsoft Defender built into Windows 8/10. Never had any viruses using that. Detects viruses, malware, spyware, etc.

For Win7, free Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender.

Hi all

I'm already for too long on a free version of AVG. Seems ok but not good enough I guess, plus I'm getting bombarded with daily advertising about upgrading.

So the BIG question is; should I stay with AVG and upgrade or should I go
(back) to MacAfee or perhaps Norton, or any other?

Any suggestions and recommendations appreciated.

Thanks
John Sun
