I have the feeling I know you from a past life. Do you recollect anything about this ?

So far I am not doing any Android or iOS, but I am getting prompted by customers to do something. If so it will be for 10" tablet style so UI reuse is not on the cards.

Up until now  have used TADO DB objects, but decided to give the other options a go. I could not get SQL Server to work at all on TSQL Connection until I installed the original SQL Server 2008 Native client. This has somewhat alarmed me hat Embarcadero do not support 2008 R2, 2012 or 2014. 

Berlin also does not run out of the box any of the Interbase or firebird Demos, I am quite disillusioned by this.  I called support and got a less than acceptable response which has further fuelled my anxiety WRT Embarcadero.

Hi Tony

If you have an investment in legacy code for Windows apps, you could look at using Delphi to provide the business logic and something like TurboCocoa to bridge to the native Android/iOS/MacOS user interface.


We have successfully ported across a Delphi 4 Win app to run natively under Mac OS X, achieving about 80% code reuse.

I can't really comment on the DB connections, apart from saying that FireDac seems to be the way Embo is running.
