If you are just doing Android development (and not looking for cross
platform), why not use "Android Studio - the Official Android IDE".

I have not done done much in the later version, only played around with it
when it was Eclipse based.

Learning Java is not that hard, and if you want to do serious Android
development, I would have a serious look at it. If you want cross platform,
there are other choices, some also in Java, but I have not had a serious
look at them.

Wasn't sure what you meant by Linux hosted, but Android Studio runs on
Linux as well.

Regards
Colin
