[DUG] Installing Delphi 7 onto laptop with no CD drive

Having downloaded Delphi 7 you presumably now have the ISO. Simply mount
that as a virtual CD/DVD and go from there.

The only other things to remember are:

1. Run the installer elevated

2. Either install in a folder NOT under Program Files or ensure that you
provide full control permissions to the folder that you do install to (if
installing under Program Files).

3. Start the IDE at least once after installation *before* installing any
other components/packages (GExperts etc)

You should be able to retrieve your serial # and auth keys from your EDN
account if you previously registered and activated your Delphi 7 license.

If not, or if you don't have access for whatever reason then as long as you
are a legit license holder then although technically and legally
questionable, I would see no reasonable objection to obtaining a serial #
and auth key combo from the net and using that for the purposes of
installing, given that with Delphi 7 you don't need to activate (just
ignore the registration wizard and run "unregistered"). If the
"unregistered" reminder in the splash screen makes you uncomfortable then
you could use Delphi distiller to remove that.

As I say, all of the above is predicated on the fact that you have a legit
license. I obviously would not condone such action in the absence of a
license, only as a convenience in otherwise legitimate circumstances..

The availability of older versions with current/newer Delphi versions is
time limited. You have only 180 days (iirc) from the purchase of your new
Delphi license in which to request keys for the older versions. Once you
have the keys I think you can download the ISO's at your leisure - it is
the access to the keys which is crucial. If you didn't request and
download those within the 180 days then unfortunately you missed your
window of opportunity.

Hope that helps.
