Yea, now I see the whole message like that it seems like the spambot theory holds water. 

They don't care if it shows up bit a lot of forms are to display comments etc from readers and therefore may display the links so lots of people click on it. The fact it was only sent to you in an email would not be a consideration. Spam enough forms and you get through enough times and people will click on their links.
