[DUG] BDE and Windows 8.1

I work with a Dev a PC with Win 7 Pro 32 bit with Delphi 5 and BDE (along
with XE5).
Delphi 5 and BDE installs and runs fine, with the following oddity - have
found that have to leave the BDE open when developing in D5 in order to not
have some of the database servers/databases not disappear. It looks like
it is to do with Windows virtualising where the settings are stored (BDE
puts them under program files). Indeed the settings files can be seen
there - but Windows tends to overwrite it from somewhere else if the BDE is
not open.... 64 bit might also go a bit wonky if its folder is "Program
Files (x86)" and where the settings get written to is anyones guess.
Would like to sort out the oddity, or understand it - but at least have a
workaround.
My own PC has Windows 8.1 (update 1) 64 bit and BDE installed OK as part of
D2007/XE5. Haven't actually used BDE stuff but it looks like it runs fine.

Subject: [DUG] BDE and Windows 8.1
Hi,
I know BDE is not supported, but I wonder if there is anyone running BDE
under Windows 8.1, 32 or 64 bits?
Thanks!
Rodney
