Somewhat. One of the projects we used DevArt components for required MySQL 
as well as
FireBird connections; it was fine.

PostgreSQL with Microolap DAC components are working well for me. The DAC 
components are a direct connection bypassing the IDE.

Absolutely no problems with that combination.

The PostgreSQL community gives great support, even with dumb questions.

PostgreSQL also has PostGIS a spatial environment which is useful.
