[DUG] Suitable Database for XE2 Pro

Can you not use ADO to access FireBird ?

The (ridiculous IMHO) restriction on not supporting "remote" SQL servers in
Delphi Pro editions (since long before Delphi 7) is made all the more
ridiculous by the fact that you can still get to those remote systems using
alternative API's

Alternatively, Chris Walton on Stack Overflow seems to have solved the
problems he was having accessing FireBird from Delphi XE Pro...

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5765424/how-to-access-databases-from-within-delphi-xe-professional-ide

Maybe there is something in his question or the answer(s) that will help
you in your case.
