[DUG] Suitable Database for XE2 Pro

Hi everyone,

OK, reading the fine print it seems that XE Pro has taken away the ability
to access Firebird as a part of it's abilities. Delphi 7 was better it
seems.

So, now that I have paid my hard earned for the Pro version, I want to be
able to write programs in it (of course - I don't fork out $10 for a game,
let alone over $700).

The reason I was looking at FireBird was that it's a good client/server
database and my customers could also use it as a local database without
having to install the FireBird server - if they want to try out the program
or use it solely on their own computer. If then they want to install it on
their systems with the database on the server, they don't then have to fork
out for a Server licence and user seat licences, just to run my little
program.

Getting 3rd party VCL components that will work for FireBird will cost more
than Delphi itself. Does anyone have any suggestions that can result in the
same thing? For example, I've been looking at SQLLite, DBISAM/ElevateDB,
MySql and others, but not sure which will work with Delphi XE2 Pro, or the
cost of the components.

Suggestions anyone?
