Android development in eclipse is pretty good - much harder work than in 
Delphi however.  You should also take a look at App Inventor, so far 
I've just done their basic tutorial, but looks pretty amazing.  Looks 
easy to write small apps - but I don't know if it would scale into 
anything significant.

It might be a pretty cool way of getting kids into programming.
