[DUG] Current Registrations

I believe Jolyon is correct, I can confirm there is no grace period for
D2006.
A while ago one of our developers left and we hired a new developer,
installed and registered D2006 on a new PC. After every few weeks
(sometimes as short as 2 weeks) he would be shut out of Delphi unless we
re-register, reg has always been successful but it is really strange
that he has to do this over and over again, everyone else in the team is
fine.
Borland/CodeGear/Embarcadero product registration has always been
problematic for us, especially when registering Interbase licenses,
always hit and miss, sometimes it allows us to bump sometimes doesn't,
gave exactly the same error message as David received.
I really hope Embarcadero will look into fixing their registration
tools.
Thanks

|I'm pretty sure it hasn't allowed unregistered/unactivated use
|for some versions now.
|
|Delphi 6 was the last time you didn't have to get permission
|to use something you legitimately own in order to use it.
|
|Delphi 7 reportedly allowed you to freely enjoy your purchase,
|and I remember using my own D7 in that state at one time, but
|subsequently/more recently it didn't seem possible (either my
|memory was playing tricks on me, and other people, or they
|changed something in an update maybe).
|
|iirc with Delphi 2010, at least and possibly earlier versions,
|if you do not activate you get dumped straight back out... no
|grace period.
