[DUG] Current Registrations

Hi Malcolm

You might have meant to reply off list (that reply for gets people all the
time!) but since it seems fairly benign content wise I'm replying on list
for now.

That was Delphi 2007 Enterprise, electronic download version I think.

Looks like the registration limit was set to 5 and Quinn Wildman at
Embarcadero has now bumped it from 5 to 7 after I emailed them. He didn't
answer my question about why the online bumping wouldn't work.

We'll immediately be consuming one of these extra registrations in order to
get it re-registered on a developer computer. It was already registered on
the machine but we had a powercut and the UPS died just as the developer was
starting Delphi, after he rebooted he got a message saying the registration
file was corrupted. Seemed strange to me, I would have thought Delphi
starting up would just be reading the registration file but I guess it must
write to it also in order for corruption to occur. We've had one or two
cases of registration file corruption before I think but have never really
known why it happens.

So that leaves us with one spare on that serial. We've obviously been a bit
too carefree with using the registrations because I have a feeling all of
our serials are in a similar state. Not a problem so long as they will bump
them when emailed and so long as Delphi keeps working for 30 days without
registration!

Cheers,
David.
