[DUG] BDS.exe memory issues

Same experience. In past years BDS 2006 (Delphi IDE) and Firefox v2 were slogging system performance witn slow memory leaks over several hours. D2007 and Firefox 3 are big improvements there.

Plus on Vista with 4GB memory I never seem to get above 2.6GB memory in use anyway, so it no longer matters.

I am never sure of the various Task manager Process Explorer memory measurments as they are all so different:

For instance:

BDS.EXE (D2007) memory= 83M (Task Manager Memory), Process Explorer Working set=119M, Virtual Size=469M
(after being open for some days)

Firefox (3.6 beta 60 tabs open) memory= 220M (Task Manager Memory), Process Explorer Working set=171M, Virtual Size=556M
(open for a day or so)

When restarted, these figures become

BDS.EXE (D2007) memory= 32M (Task Manager Memory), Process Explorer Working set=43M, Virtual Size=341M

Firefox (3.6 beta 60 tabs open) memory= 182M (Task Manager Memory), Process Explorer Working set=212M, Virtual Size=383M

Firefox memory leaks over time are largely thought to be largely from such as flash and other stuff on open pages.

>From my observations the BDS memory usage comes from just repeating the edit/compile/run/debug process over many hours. In my case D2007 has been open for some days at least, so I am not complaining. D5 seems to to similar after being hammered for a day.
