Remember that one very simple way is the original:

I haven't tried it from inside Delphi (using Shellexec) but for years I have
done FTP via the standard original command line interface that is built into
windows.   In fact the only time I don't use it is when I am sending a large
number of files, some text (eg html) and some binary (eg GIF) because it is
a pain to change modes.

Go to Start/Run/cmd and type

ftp -h

All the basic functionality is already there.  If it is called using
Shellexec its automatically in a separate process.
