[DUG] [OT] Budget Web/File Hosting

Hi Alan,

I've used GoDaddy too for a couple of sites, and had no problems. They seem
to be reputable and reliable and performance seems ok albeit a bit sluggish
compared to a premium NZ host. If you're expecting a high volume of
downloads from the site, check the maximum transfer volume allowed - it'll
probably be way higher than you're likely to use on a small site but there
will be a limit.

The prices they quote are in $US.

Another cheap mass-market hosting company I've found reliable in the past is
1and1. Servers in Germany, support in India and marketing effort aimed at
the USA. They used to actually verify that their customers were in the US,
but I don't know if they still do. Facilities and price plans comparable to
GoDaddy's but support is not impressive according to a friend who's used it.

Brian
