Delphi4PHP is an integrated IDE for PHP which is a scripting language
which can be invoked as a CGI
or loadable module (it also has a command line interpreter, CLI)
Delphi4PHP is definately visual! The unique thing they have done is
defined a specification for the 'visual components' of a web page
(ie date pickers, inputs etc) so they present a std interface to the
programmer via the IDE, this exposed client side (javascript) and server
side (Ajax) events, it installs Apache so when you 'run' your app the
web browser displays the result
Delphi4PHP is not unique as there are a number of IDE's available, in
fact the one I use Nusphere (www.nusphere.com) is written
by the guys who provide the open source php debugging DLL that
Delphi4PHP uses
Nusphere is probably ahead of Delphi4PHP currently but as I said the
'VCL' definition is the attraction for me, hopefully it will deal
with all the browser differences I encounter
