I have no idea if this is correct or not, but I'm hypothesizing that
you've set your virtual hard disk to be dynamic rather than fixed, in
which case the virtual hard disk would indeed grow to fill your physical
c:\ drive as required. ;-) 

Creating a new virtual hard disk of fixed size might solve your problem?

Hi guys - I am testing some installer software on Micro$oft's Virtual
PC. I have a call to GetDiskFreeSpace which should be returning the
amount of free space on the virtual c:\ drive (which is stored on an
external drive) but instead is retuning the free space on the host PC's
c:\ drive. Any ideas?
