This is quite old? I thought we discussed this here? But there is more
information now, so it is pertinent.

Borland is closing the Auckland office - as I am with DevCo, they don't
need it. That will be as of the end of this month. The phone number
3600231 will be answered directly by myself (it will redirect to my
cellphone). All order taking will be going to a partner that will focus
on the DevCo development tools (expect to see a lot of activity in this
area from DevCo and partner). Until the partner is set up I can't talk
details but be assured they will be trying to contact as many people as
possible and working with everyone to enliven Delphi, InterBase and
JBuilder in New Zealand (as will DevCo generally in the rest of the
world).

"Update on the Developer Tools Group Divestiture

"Borland announced on February 8, 2006 the intention to divest
its Integrated Developer Environment (IDE) product lines. Nigel Brown,
previously vice president of Borland EMEA, has been appointed general
manager of Borland's internally formed Developer Tools Group. This group
now consists of approximately 180 Borland employees, with sales,
marketing and product teams working independently within the Company.
The divesture process is proceeding according to schedule and attracting
a strong number of qualified bidders. Borland is working to have a buyer
identified within the next several months.

	. . .

"Borland will reduce its workforce by approximately 300
employees, or about 20 percent of its regular full-time staff. The
majority of staff reductions will come from the re-scoping of Borland's
international operations .
	 . . .
"The majority of Borland's planned workforce reductions are part
of a plan to re-scope its international operations, which currently
serves 29 countries. Going forward, Borland will focus on enhancing its
existing direct sales model in major IT markets, supporting customers in
secondary markets through a mix of direct, partner and channel
relationships. Borland expects to complete this reduction in workforce
by the end of July 2006.
