Which is a shame really, because back in the day, Delphi offered something
over and above VC++ and VB. The VCL was far superior to anything MS had, and
things like TDataset etc where way ahead of the field. 

Now, as you say, it is just a language choice. I prefer C Style syntax,
always have, so I go with VS.NET over D2005.

Exactly, and with .NET language is becoming increasingly less important,
relegated to just a personal choice based on syntax etc...  I take the
requirements and then work out what the best tools to implement them with
are.
