I would recommend "Code Complete" by Steve McConnell for a great reference
to improve one's programming at any level. Starting with this book will
ensure bug minimisation for life!
If you want to focus on OO analysis, design and testing, I would suggest
"The Object Primer" by Scott Ambler.
