IMHO. Surely using software assurance is simply a way of either
1/ Indicating the product will not live up to expectations
2/ Doubling the price, but making it seem reasonable. 

If only the leaky home issue had something like Builders Assurance  .

We could sell a house for 150,000 and for an extra 80,000 your
builders assurance will qualify you for a dry, sound home.. hmmmmm the
possibilities of escaping good quality promises are endless.
