Yes - we have a *huge* amount of code that all of our apps depend on -
code that manages object streaming, custom RTTI, Application setup; all
sorts of stuff that let us concentrate just about exclusively on
architecture and business logic when building a new app. To rewrite that
would be a massive effort that I'm not looking forward to (there are
only two of us developing apps here) but I think eventually we will have
to and I'm not quite sure what language we will go to. Both Delphi.NET
and C# are the main contenders I guess. We have started doing web
applications more and more and I guess a lot of the middleware and GUI
stuff could be written in anything (already using Java for applets), but
the back end stuff is where the grunt happens and that is all Delphi.
Here is another question for you all:
If you had to immediately stop using Delphi, what would would you use to
develop:
1) Windows GUIs
2) Web app GUIs (if you do)
3) Middleware (eg, ISAPI, ASP, custom TCP etc etc)
4) Server / Database
Phil.
