[DUG] Task Manager tray icon

I agree about ProcessExplorer - fantastic tool!!!!.....if I want to see
processes running quickly I might use Task manager, but if I want any
serious information I will use processexplorer, and leave it running.
I use it with the main screen showing columns for
Process/PID/CPU/Description/Company Name/Cpu History/IO reads/Working Set
(Memory use)
Yes you can get a CPU history graph for each process - that alone is worth
it, and the long history graph at the top of all processes shows the
dominant process as you arrow along it. Its an awesome tool for program
monitoring, and also for checking what is running on the system - eg "why
has the disk been going crazy for the last 30 seconds, or what has been
slowing the system down". It also shows a cpu history graph in the system
tray icon, not just the current cpu loading.
The only gripe I have is an XP one - I wish I knew what all the tasks using
SVCHOST.EXE were actually doing. Probably the one using 20mb memory is a
hotline to the NSA.....although you can highlight any process and show a
lower pane information window .... Eg for the SVCHOST process mentioned it
shows a pile of information, not much of which leaves me much more in the
light!!!!
[The other impressive freeware utility is AID32 system info for reporting on
every last detail of your hardware and driver versions etc.]

There are other really good ones there that every developer should use.
RegMon and FileMon. Also there is one there for TCP connections.
Quality stuff. Some written by the guy that discovered the Sony RootKit that
has been racing around the internet lately.
